CBD Esthetician Course

CBD Esthetician

We began to work with CBD in my wellness spa about 6 months ago. We have seen tremendous results. I knew at some point I needed to share with other skin care professionals. I began to document our findings, pedicures, facials, high-end anti-aging treatments…just to name a few. Photos in the skin care room after ONE treatment, made me take a deeper look into CBDs.

As a skilled aromatherapy and herbalist at my spa and home, I knew something was brewing as I learned more about CBDs. I dove into the research, I spent time looking also at the trends. The trends were showing some strong results. CBD was something that was trending, many people wanted it, but not sure how to get it. Legally speaking, it is fine for us to use this product in the United States. To learn some basic FAQ about CBD, please CLICK HERE to read a quick rundown on how it works and some facts.

I did a video. One video. This attracted so many spa owners, estheticians and nail techs to find out how to use CBD, and how to make an income using it. So I shared this amazing oil with my fellow esthetician. Heather immediately fell in love with the results. The rest is history. Here we are teaching people all across the country how to use CBD in a spa setting.

  • Perfect for acne. Killing bacteria and stopping many levels of breakout

Tuesday Tidbit

Hello Everyone! Happy 2019

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I decided to take December off from a lot of social media, and keeping up with the bare minimum. This enabled me to have time to rest, I hibernated a lot in December! I was working a lot in my new business.

For those of you who missed it, my husband and I went into business together. This has also been a fantastic shift. We love the time we are spending working together. Our family time has increased and we are now working with the kids on work ethic. They also have been helping the family by working!

Balancing schedules has been the largest shift in going 100% self-employed. I have had to really take a look at the time I have and make things a priority.  The Tuesday Tidbit has a large audience and taking the month of December off allowed me to see what my schedule is able to accommodate.

I am not able to do weekly tidbits any longer, but I can do a few of them a month.

The tidbit is made to have information in seven minutes or less! Essential Oil education has been the foundation of the tidbit, and at times we talk about personal development. Sometimes, we talk about stones or crystals… each week has been so much fun engaging with the audience.

You can find my tidbits on Facebook.

There is an event up so you can RSVP and get notifications. Make sure to FOLLOW the page and TURN ON your notifications. The replay is always there as well.

Journaling Challenge 2019

I am so excited about 2019!

There is always something refreshing about a new year. One of the things I attempted to accomplish in 2018 was to journal. I did well for about a week and then…well…things got “busy”. So this year when I purchased a new journal for 2019, I asked myself “How can I get through the entire year? What needs to happen?”

Well, first thing is setting the intention, then go out and find support. So I decided to just randomly ask on Facebook who would be interested in this concept for 2 weeks? Closed group, and we hold each other accountable. I was shocked to see so many people respond, at this point I knew I was on to something. So I created the group.

I would like to personally invite you to join the CHALLENGE. Click here to join the closed Facebook Group.

I look forward to creating this new habit for 2019 alongside like minded people. I thrive in a group setting, and I am thrilled to see what happens! Happy 2019.

Clean Your Makeup Brushes Naturally

When I decided to talk about this subject, I knew many would then cringe, knowing it had been a while since the makeup brushes had been cleaned. It is okay, but then again it’s not the best idea. The brushes need to stay fresh to keep your skin, eyes healthy.

One of the things I learned being an esthetician is that ladies love makeup. It makes me listen to them closely, I get some good makeup tips from my beautiful clients. Myself, I  have a small arsenal of makeup just to get by. I love my mascara and lipsticks, I can say that much for sure.

As clients come in for facials and waxing, we talk about these things. For those who have been having skin issues, this is something I like to address. This was published on a DoTerra blog a while back and I love this. Now if you do not want to use the coconut oil, you can use a witch hazel.

2 tablespoons doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil/or witch hazel
5 drops Melaleuca oil
5 drops Grapefruit oil

Add Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils into a small bowl.

Swirl your makeup brush in the Fractionated Coconut Oil for 30 seconds, or until you see the makeup stored in your brush start to come out.

Rub in a circular motion on the palm of hand to help get the makeup out.

Rinse the brush under warm water. Gently squeeze brush bristles until clean, and the water runs clear.

Note: Make sure to point the bristles down when running under water. Direct water contact may loosen the glue where the bristles are attach and shorten the life of your brushes.

Let your newly cleaned makeup brushes dry on a towel for four hours, or until dry. Repeat once a month, or as needed.

Now that was a testimony.

Essential Oil Mishaps & Solutions

Mishaps 1

This blog topic came up in a Facebook thread. One of our team members posted about a mishap with her oils. I knew that many of us avid oilers have had mishaps with our essential oils. Most were accident, lack of education, just learning how to use essential oils….and some were just down right comical.

I decided to reach out to my team to learn what some of them have encountered while using essential oils. The comments begin to pile up, and I have to go through them the next morning. I realized that we have all been here. The purpose of this blog is to make you giggle a little bit, learn some of the tidbits of oils gone wrong. Most importantly, I want to share with you some solutions to these OILER problems.

First of all I always want to teach the safety guidelines of using essential oils. Click the link to read the guidelines. Another piece of education I offer on this site is our Beginners Guide. This guide goes over many of the basic use of essential oils. I have found the easiest way to get these guidelines to others is on the website. People can watch and learn at own pace, come back later if they have questions.

So…. What kind of mishaps have happened to our OILY crew??

“Putting too many oils in the diffuser”

Solution: You can either dump it out and start over…or I have in the past taken half the water out and put in a mason jar… add new water to the left over water in the diffuser….use the mason jar at a later date diluted or add to a different diffuser that day.

“Too much Lemon oil in my water”

Solution: Less is more. You can do the same principle above, putting half your potent lemon water in another waterbottle…. or dump. Remember ONE drop is all you probably need. The oils are concentrated… One drop of peppermint is equal to 28 cups of peppermint tea.

“I didn’t wash my hands, and rubbed my eyes”

Solution: Grab a carrier oil. Most people use coconut oil, you can put a little coconut oil on a q tip and place next to the eye, hold in place. The essential oils draw to the coconut oil, and let the eye flush. This advice is of course is for small incidents, larger accidents can be dangerous….and likely avoided by hand washing after dispensing. Make sure to wash you hands after application.

“I decided to use essential oil hand sanitizer for deodorant. OUCH.”

Solution: Don’t use hand santizer for deodorant 🙂 , All jokes aside, when oils trigger a response from the skin… DILUTION IS HUGE. As mentioned in our beginners guide and essential oil safety guidelines, dilution is needed for safe application of essential oils. Now perhaps, the sanitizer diluted may of worked without the burn. Add more carrier when in doubt.

“I used too many drops and my skin was on fire”

Solution: More Carrier oil. Keep putting the oil on the area that is hot. Eventually it will calm down…but for now keep adding the carrier oil. DO NOT USE WATER. It will make it worse. Your best bet is to keep using carrier oil to cool the skin and dilute the oils.

Being a new essential oil user can be intimidating at first. Just remember that less is more…and I hope some of these tips help you in a time of “oops”.

So do you have an essential oil mishap? Message me. I would love to add to this blog.

Thank you team OILsome for sharing your stories with me. Xoxo

Dear Limits…I am now an author!

Last year I was approached to co author in a book with other female entrepreneurs.  At first….I giggled…thinking it was spam. Little did I know that this journey would be a process of hard work, brainstorming and digging deep.

The idea behind the book is the limits we set on ourselves.. and how it impacts our success level in every aspect of life. Time to relearn how you perceive limitations. See the changes thought the eyes of a tribe of successful, driven women.

My chapter is Adversity & Your Empire. I had to dig deep into my heart and memories in order to create the list of things to write about.  I finally was able to narrow it down to a list of things an entrepreneur really needs to know.

The list included:

-success is not easy

-mindset control & the hater complex

-how to improve your worth as an entrepreneur

This amazing book has been on the best seller list and I think is a must have for the women entrepreneur.

Simple Rules When You Work From Home

Working from home is freedom from the commute, co-workers in the flesh, drama at the water cooler. Some days you get dressed, some days you wear sweatpants. The thing about working at home is having discipline. Especially, if your self employed and you do not have to check in with a boss.

I used to work from home in my early twenties as I had a thriving network marketing business. I got into the workforce about age twenty-two. A few things that happened to me while I ran an at home business, the worst was the weight gain. I had managed to gain a lot of weight during working from home. The next time I worked from home, was in my thirties. I knew better this round, I made myself some rules as well.

I am in the home office a few days a week, I am able to manage my time and do not spend longer than two hours at the desk per day. I also have been able to manage weight and stress of being home alone. Routine is essentially the best route to take, but I am not always routine. Lets talk about some of the simple ways I keep it together while I work from home.

Here are some things I keep in mind as I work at home:

  •  Me Time:  After I drop off my kids at school I go home. I start a bath, here is where I spend 20 minutes of my day listening to personal development. I like to listen to audio books on business, self-improvement, relationship building and more. This is vital to my day going on track, and helps me start it off positive. This has been with me for 3 years now. It serves me well.
  • Get Dressed: Makeup. Shoes. Pants. The whole enchilada. You need to be looking good to feel good. Helps your focus and attitude. Rock the red lipstick in that home office. Life is short. Get with it girlfriend!
  • Move your Body: Make sure to get some sort of workout in. I love the short workouts, some days I do something off my pin board or do some yoga before my bath.
  • Schedule. Stick to It: Scheduling your day helps a lot. I try to do this most days, and some days the best laid out plan goes haywire. So focus on doing the best you can and be flexible. Your methods may change, but end result should be the same. I even schedule pickup times for kids, lunch time, break if I have a longer day in the office. I try to not be in the office for more than 2 consecutive hours in a row.
  • Work in an INSPIRED SPACE: I cannot even express how vital this is. I have recently been spoiled by the home office in the last 9 months. It has made a huge difference for me. I can leave things out, and no one will touch them. This I find is huge if you’re a mommy… no finding that document later hanging up, with a picture colored on the other side…I have been there. I feel much more productive having all my work stuff in ONE space, I feel like I get more work done. It has a vibe. I made it beautiful. Put positive saying on the wall, brought in my nicest diffuser, decorated my office with love.
  • Mute Phone: If I have a something that I need done that day, I do not have time to waste by the distractions on my cell phone. I was working on a deadline for a book I am a co author in, I had to turn off the phone, shut off internet. No sideline distractions. Some of my favorite distractions are messenger, texting and shopping online. You just have to put it on hold to get any real work done!
  • Drink LOTS of Water: It is easy to get dehydrated when your working hard at home. Put water on your desk, I use a lot of essential oils in my water so I drink it faster. I love to use grapefruit, lime, lemon oils in my water. I find that if I am on conference calls all day, I have a hard time with the water. Just remember, you are well, and all is well around you.
  • Use Lists: make a to do list. Morning and Mid Day. I am very realistic about the list and sometimes, I am not. I recommend if your overwhelmed by lists you should start with three things. These three things can be simple or long tasked. Start small, set yourself up for success. If you make too long of a list, you will feel bad about yourself at the end of the day for not accomplishing the list. So…start with those three and add more tasks as needed. Seeing the list done at the end of the day is much more refreshing than feeling like you did not get anything done.

I am sure there are more guidelines to post regarding working at home. These are a few simple ones that have really worked and gone the long haul for me. I find on my balanced days… I love my work from home days. I still find myself at my day spa two days week seeing my loved clients.  I just have figured out the perfect balance to running all my businesses. Much love.

Why your Closet is your Best Asset

I been busy with my home and things over the last few months. I have been working on so many projects with other entrepreneurs, and finishing the book I am co authoring in. In the meanwhile, life is happening. My kids are growing, I am growing too.

With my growth, comes with ideas for this blog. During the holidays we were busy packing and trying to have a normal holiday. Things were moving fast. I try really hard to slow down and enjoy those “moments” we have in our day-to-day routines. One of the days that caught my attention was my son, Ranger. His behavior on a certain day, when he wore a specific outfit. I noticed a change in his normal behavior, I realized it was his outfit he was wearing. I even asked him about his outfit. He absolutely loved it. The funny story was I had purchased this outfit on clearance for a few bucks, because it was cute. It sat in the closet for almost a year until it finally fit, I love to shop that way for my kids. . . saves a ton of money!!

thumbnail_FB_IMG_1493182258058Here is my six-dollar outfit that made a little boy come out of his shell. When I asked him about the outfit, he said he felt special, it made him feel good. He loved his “Special” outfit. I could tell he was happier that day, smiled a lot and felt confident. He wanted to wear it everyday after….

This child has a mother who is a clothing junkie. I will admit, I have a lot of clothes. I love to have new items on the regular…I will admit, after a 3 or 4th wear, I usually will sell it. I resale them to fuel my habit of not wearing an item more than a handful of times. Resale is a great way to keep your wardrobe fresh, if you take good care of it.

I always have known that the clothes we wear send a message to the world. Every time we leave the home, we are “out there”. We are now vulnerable to the opinions of others. I have always felt like I dress for success, even as cliché as that sounds. After the interaction with my son, I felt like I needed to look more into the science behind what we wear.

I knew there was some psychology about our wardrobe. I went out on the search for information on this subject. I was fascinated about what I found, and I was right. We are what we wear. Not only on the outside of our bodies, but the inside as well. Our mental health and emotional well-being was being affected by what lies inside the closet.

The first thing I stumbled upon was clothing was used as a silent social status, since in modern times we do not have an actual “caste system”. Basically, we have created a silent system with our choice in style. This something that is happening whether we realize it or not. I personally did not even think about this, but then I began to think about trends… sparkly butt jeans…those were popular for a while…maybe still are. But the ladies had them, and they shined all day in those blingy jeans.

Now when it comes to how we feel, the positive aspects of what we wear become full circle.  When we feel a certain way, we dress a certain way. So for example, if your feeling depressed the sweatpants may come out. When you’re at the top of your game you may feel like getting the short skirt out or the sun dress. Some of the studies done did show that we feel our clothes make us happy. We shop for things that look appealing to us, and overall naturally we all want to look nice. Also studies show, that HOW WE THINK, is linked to our clothing!!! So if you’re dressed nice and clean…vs…not showered and in sweatpants…how do you think you would think differently in each style of clothing?

Nicer clothing helps us open up to the world. When we take the time to take care of ourselves, the world will notice. Our clothes tell a tale about how we feel about ourselves, how we interact with other people and most importantly, they assist us in having more positive interactions. You are more likely to ask for that promotion in your amazing new shoes. It is a mental boost, and its a boost some of us desperately need. We need all the help in life we can get, this is something you can control.

After spending a few days looking up information on this subject, I decided I needed to share this. We have so many things we need to get done in a day, let’s do it in a beautiful outfit that flatters you, and makes you feel alive. I also will give kudos to my son Ranger, for reminding me that “special” clothes, are really that special.

Want to get started now? Get going, get into that closet. Try everything on. I MEAN EVERYTHING. If you do not feel like a “10” in that shirt, it HAS TO GO. This is an exercise I teach some of my mentor clients. IT WORKS. I know you will probably have some stuff that piles up because it’s a nine…but follow the rule. TENS ONLY. Once you get this done, for some will take weeks, you will begin to feel the difference in your TEN CLOTHES. Also, use this rule when you are shopping for new items! Don’t let anything get purchased that is not a “10”. Trust me. This is worth doing, and you’re doing it for YOU. In the end, it will be YOU, not your closet that is your best asset.

    Yuletide Diffuser Blends

Diffusing is absolutely one of the things that intrigues people about essential oils. They smell it, they learn how to make own blends, and the mad scientist emerges from behind the diffuser.

Aromatic science is powerful, the science behind it is fascinating.

The olfactory system is your sense of smell. Using our nose, the essential oils work with these systems and affect the brain within minutes.

When you inhale, the essential oils travel through the nose and affect the brain through a line of receptors, also one of them is the “emotional center” or limbic system. It makes the oils a powerful alley in our emotions.

Most of the blends listed you will love in the diffuser, but some you can also use for a topical blend if you wish. I have included a few bonus roller ball blends for you to use during the holiday. Check out the slide show below.

Have fun with them. The diffuser blends are a guideline!

    Post Facial Guidelines

Clients who follow skin care regimens are very diligent about after care. The work that is done in the facial room is working for a long time after the facial is done. There is not a huge list of after care items, but there are a few things you will want to keep in mind after a facial.

    • Stay away from touching extraction sites.
    • Try to not apply makeup, let skin breathe.
    • Keep sun exposure to a minimum, sunscreen if needed.
    • Do not attempt to do any peels or scrubs, retinol.
    • No washing your face. Let those products work for you!
    • No steam or sauna rooms for 24 hrs.
    • Enjoy your results.

No matter what kind of business we run, we have to deal with people who come to us for products or services. Many times, little touches make people feel welcomed into your space. This is what you want, people who feel comfortable coming to your business, having an excellent experience.

With having that excellent experience, now the word of mouth referrals begin to happen. The best kind of advertising! This is your ultimate goal with any business you have. How do you make customers super loyal?

The answer is simple. You spoil them!! You love on them. You make them feel important. That is all they will remember long after the transaction is over, how you made them feel.

Here is a small list of things you can do to get the ‘edge’ you need to create loyal customers, create long-lasting friendships. Loving on people is truly one of the things you can do every single day.

    Holiday Hand Soap

This was an absolute last-minute DIY. To give everyone fair warning, I am not much of the DIY type. Seems some projects are great, and others are a hot mess. So I am very selective in what I choose.

The prompt of this project is pretty comical. Last year I purchased a ton of Christmas clearance items. As usual, I pack away my treasures, then find them the following year. Last year I decided to decorate the bathroom for this year. So I had new towels, shower curtain, and cute new soap dispenser. The other day at the store I had stumbled upon a pine scented hand soap…then the idea hit. I have an entire bottle of castile soap under the sink, I have never used. I do not even know how to use it. I knew it was concentrated.

So the idea hit…use the castile soap to make hand soap. Use essential oils, and fill up the cute new container. Went on to Pinterest and began to look for steps, ingredients. So many choices… I decided to take a little from each pin and formulate my own soap.

Within a few minutes I had it narrowed down to what I needed to make the soap.

So that is what you need. Distilled Water. Castile Soap. Essential Oils of your choice. I chose the Holiday Joy and Douglas Fir. The holiday joy is amazing, clove. cinnamon to mention a few. Also good for boosting immune system. The Douglas Fir is uplifting, crisp and clean smelling.

2016-11-27_21-57-56So this is what you need to make the soap:

    • 1 to 2 TBS of Castile Soap ( I used 2)
    • 15-25 Drops Of Essential Oil ( I used mostly Holiday Joy and a little bit of Douglas Fir.)
    • Distilled Water
    • Container to put your soap in
    • Bowl
    • Measuring Spoon
    • Whisk

I began by putting the two tablespoons of soap in the bowl, added my oils, whisked lightly. Poured into the container, then added the distilled water until full. Shake lightly with lid on, and let sit. Ready to go!

    6 Golden Rules for Leadership

Leadership I believe comes naturally to some, and for many you begin to evolve into a leader. I watch my kids and I know who will lead the pack from the two little personalities. I see a strong sense of independence, strong will and the creativity to think outside the box. As adults, we do not often see ourselves in a leadership role…but many of us are leading the pack. At home and at work, we use leadership skills.

I was always strong-willed, and I never would have imagined that I would have evolved into the leader I am today. I find myself constantly learning, imagining new things and helping others set plans into motion. I did have a great career in my early 20’s before I went self-employed. Being a manager for many years, allowed me to be groomed perfectly for self employment.

Now that I manage the day spa, and my essential oils business, and mentoring….I find leadership skills are a must in handling the personalities each day. I have narrowed down my list to 6 golden rules of leadership. You will find that I do most of these, if not all of them. I am always a work in progress, and I love learning from others.

    1. Make all choices INTENTIONAL.

In our day-to-day rituals, we have the ups and downs. The one thing we can control is how we react to these things that happen to us.  We can begin to make different choices, which are mindful. Making choices based on your core values as a human being. I find with this approach many of the issues that we face, are minor in comparison. When you think of who you want to be in this world is when your decisions become more intentional. They shift the perspective…and make choices easier to make.

    2. UNCOMFORTABLE is now your new reality.

Yup. I said it. GET UNCOMFORTABLE. Stretching your limits, not only makes you stand out, it begins to set a very positive pattern. Each little stretch, makes you stronger, and willing to go for more. It is much like working a muscle, over a period of time, you find yourself doing more than you ever imagined. KEEP STRETCHING!  Consider how your life would change if you were not driven to make choices based on fear. Consider how you feel after you accomplish something that was out of the “zone”. Was it really that scary? Did you almost die? Yes. It may have been scary. Yes. You felt like you would die from your heart pounding. But you did it. You made it.

This also helps set the example for others. As I began to do video marketing, I noticed a trend. I noticed more people were doing videos. I now see several of my tribe doing videos online, and doing so well at it. Set the bar for success, create a path for others.

    3. Be authentic. Be YOU.

The world needs YOU. This is the hardest lesson I have had to learn in my entire life. We have a need to be accepted, and loved. We often hide our true identity because everyone is scared of rejection. Even the strong are.

Something I always think is “your vibe attracts your tribe”. This is so true. I am proof of it. I finally was able to leave behind the people who suck the life out of me, and bring in new tribe who are abundant, happy and help me learn. Those are the people you want! You get them by attraction, and that is YOU.

    4. Say Thank You.

As you grow your tribe, you will notice that certain people bring a huge aspect to the table. You will begin to see that you have so many different kinds of gifts in the tribe you have attracted. You need to know that your gratitude is something that they NEED TO HEAR.

Small gestures such as texting, leaving a note go a long way. It is vital. When big things are accomplished, thank you is something that keeps people going. It helps them trust and love you, and know that you have the best interest of the tribe at heart.

    5. Integrity. Have some.

This is something that seems easy to say, but action requires intentional thought. We all know right from wrong, but life seems to offer up some shortcuts at times. Do not do it. Do not fall into the shortcut mode, because in the end, it will come back to bite you. You do not want to have any part in this. The universe does not like this method, and I recommend you take some time deciding what your core values are.

When you conduct yourself with integrity, you attract those people who are also running on this principle. You become a trusted source in your community, friends and tribe. It is vital you set the example of having to at times take the hard road.

    6. Stay Away from “Management Mode”

The biggest piece I can give you is very simple. Do not ask others to do, which you refuse to do yourself. That one nugget there is one to live by. It may be one of the most important things on this list when your put in a leadership role. People will constantly be looking at you to make the right choices, seeing what you’re doing for your success.

If you work in sales, get out in the field. If you run a salon, get into the trenches with your staff. The more you work together, the more you will understand each person has different needs. You will be able to address them much more efficiently. Most important, you set the bar of standard. They know on a subconscious level that they must follow that path as well.

    Essential Oils for Beginners

This blog will go into the basics of essential oil terminology, methods of use as well as some of the most common uses for popular oils.

    Basic E.O. Terminology

Essential Oils: They are natural compounds. They come from plants. Seeds, bark, roots, flowers depending on how the oils are harvested for best potency. Essential oils contain unique properties that can have powerful  benefits in your health and wellness.

Carrier Oil: This is a liquid or lipid base product that helps dilute essential oils. Coconut, Almond, Grapeseed oils are some examples. Many people also love non scented lotions to mix with essential oils. Dilution is wonderful. It increases your budget for getting more bang for your buck. By using a carrier, you will also get more surface area for your oils. I absolutely love coconut oil and unscented lotion.

Distillation: The process of extracting the essential oil from plant material. Each plant is distilled differently. In citrus oils, a cold pressed distillation is a mechanical press. This press squeezes the oils from the plant.  Steam distillation is the most common method. This will use low heat that is pressurized steam circulate into the plants components, and extract oils. I like to tell people it is similar to a pressure cooker for your kitchen.

    Methods of Use

You can use essential oils in three ways. This helps address many issues you may need to support, depending on the method that is used. The three ways are super simple. Aromatic. Internal. Topical.

Aromatic: this is where your smell will dominate!!! Many people like to diffuse oils in a diffuser, which is a machine that sends out ultrasonic waves and disperses the oils into the air. This is a very popular method to using essential oils.  There is a lot of science behind what we smell, this helps mood as well. Other ways are putting oils in your hands and cupping them, inhale deeply. They also make many types of diffuser jewelry, wear your favorite scent.

Internal: Essential Oils can be taken internally. One thing I always advise new users to look for is a supplemental fact form. You will see this on foods, and on your oils. This will insure they are able to be used for ingestion. So if there is NO fact form, DO NOT consume internally. You may add oils to food, drinks, inside a capsule with coconut oil. When cooking with them, you are able to cut some of your costs on produce.

Topical: This may be MY favorite way to love on my oils. I love to wear them. I find they help me with my moods, set the tone for the day. People love to hug me. I always smell amazing. Certain oils I have noticed will attract people to me, or keep me even keeled. Topical use is applying it to the skin. The only thing you need to watch out for is skin sensitivity. You can put them in other personal care items. Remember, the oils are strong! 1 drop of peppermint oil is equal to 28 cups of peppermint tea.

    Basic Oils

    Lemon: Cleansing. Uplifting. Revitalizing.

    • Diffuse to help purify air (this is a bottle of oil I diffuse 2 a month. I love it in my living room)
    • Use to clean off STICKY stuff. As a mom, this rocks. Wipe off sticky gum, glue or any other sticky things. Price tags! A great one for me to save my manicure. As a skin care specialist, we use lemon oil to clean the wax pots.
    • Take internally to help support good digestion. Put in your favorite drinks, I love a drop of lemon in my ice tea.

    Frankincense: Grounding. Spiritual. Beautifying.

    • Excellent for anti aging! Get it on your skin, add to face moisturizer. Use daily.
    • Skin issues. Apply daily to problem areas.
    • Promotes balance. I absolutely love to use this oil for a long day, tired and feeling emotionally drained.
    • Can use internally to help promote cellular function and help boost immune system.
    • The rule is: When in doubt, Use Frank.

    Peppermint: Cooling. Awakening. Fresh.

    • Bugs hate peppermint. Spiders etc. A nice little trick I love is using peppermint oil on cotton balls, place around under the bed…. I really DO NOT like bugs.
    • Tired? Use peppermint to help wake you up. Behind the neck or one drop in your mouth. Be ready it is going to WAKE you.
    • Take internally for occasional upset stomach or gas. My husband says to put it in water. One drop. Drink.
    • Rub on the head and neck to release tension, and head tension.
    • Will also help the scalp. Add to conditioner.

    Lavender: Soothing. Calming. Relaxing

    • Cuts, Scrapes, Bruises, Bug Bites. Apply lavender. We keep a bottle in the kitchen.
    • Use to help assist sleep. Spray some on your pillow, use in diffuser.
    • Consume 1 or 2 drops to help calm nervous system.
    • Can help with skin care issues, help take redness down.

Melaleuca ( Tea Tree ): Cleansing. Soothing. Skin.

    • Perfect to use after shaving, diluted.
    • Good for cleaning surfaces.
    • Add to shampoo for a clean feeling
    • Good to have on hand for first aid

10 Ways to Lower Your Stress

    We all get stressed.

Life at times, even in the best, gets stressful. Scheduling alone I feel as though it keeps me on the edge. I love being on the edge, it is where I thrive most. But to be able to keep this busy I must practice self care. I must take advantage of these things I can change in my daily routines to work at maximum capacity. You must fill your glass before others.

Here are some of my personal favorite things I try to do for myself.

    1. Take off the mask. Time to get real here. We are many times subjected to hide who we really are at times as adults. We worry that someone may not like our laugh or feel the need to always be “happy” because it is easier to do than be honest. BE YOURSELF.
    2. Practice being grateful. Each day jot down a couple of things you are thankful for. Even if it has been a horrid day. Be grateful for the roof, stars and a blanket. This exercise will remind you what is important in your life.
    3. Be humble. Be coachable. One thing I can tell you from my personal success, is that this the possibly the most important. No one likes the “one upper” friend, or the “know it all”. Or the person who drives the red hot convertible bragging about it constantly. Be ready to be open to most things and learn new ideas. Stay open minded.
    4. Detach yourself from taking things personally. This one is a hard one. It is hard when dealing with close friends, family. Many of the times taking ourselves out of the equation helps us find clarity and peace.
    5. Spend time with loving and supportive humans. This also is a hard task to navigate. As we age, we become less tolerant of the fake person or someone who cannot keep a promise. You must surround yourself with the best parts your tribe has to offer. These are the people you can count on always and who will go to the end of the earth with you. Some humans will sell out, that is okay. Let it go. Leave room in your space to have the quality tribe you deserve.
    6. Sleep on it. This expression is priceless. Sleep is a good idea in a heated situation or feeling unsure of your next move. Helps you reset yourself, and think clearly the following day.
    7. Be positive. Be the sunshine in your own mind. A happy, smiling, vibrant sunshine. Know you can do it, your worth it and your the perfect one to make this happen. Tell yourself nice things. Do nice things for yourself. Be your own friend. We often neglect the relationship with our thoughts and minds. Staying positive will help with those negative thoughts we have from time to time.
    8. Patience. Believe in timing. Know that when the time is right, it will go as planned. Know that the hard work you put into something now, will not go wasted. Be patient with the process of working, relationships. Being patient with yourself is vital. As long as you keep trucking along, you will reach your destination.
    9. Show your LOVE. YES. The world needs it more than ever. Let people know your thinking of them, share a funny comic with them. Let them know that your grateful for them. Leave random messages in a bathroom, random acts of kindness. I love to send flowers to two people once a month at random… if you cannot afford that, keep it small. It is the THOUGHT that counts. You will not be forgotten.
    10. Trust your intuition. Have you ever have that thought at some point when a choice was made, and at the end of your choice is now going south, thinking ” Man. Why did I do this? I knew it was going to be not right.” Follow your gut. If you have a bad feeling about it or feel like something will not pan out….LISTEN!!! It takes practice, but this has avoided me much grief in many situations. If your stomach begins to bother you, take heed!!! Know there is something unsettling about it and do not move forward with it. Stop. Reevaluate. SLEEP ON IT!

    Essential Oil Safety Guidelines

Essential Oil Safety is something that the new user should be familiar with. The good news is that you may have a mishap, but you will know how to handle it. This is a great video on how to use the oils, I recommend sending the link to this blog to be able to help you get the information out for your friends and family.

There are some basic guidelines, and this video goes over the bare basics. There are more things to consider with essential oil safety, some of these factors in detail are below:

Never apply oils directly to the eyes or ear canal. After application, avoid rubbing the eyes, around the eyelids, handling contact lenses, or touching the interior of one’s nose. The skin around the genitals and mucous membranes areas are also sensitive and prone to irritation.
Dilute with oil, not water. If you happen to get an essential oil somewhere you did not
intend, or experience discomfort when applying it to your skin, please use a carrier oil or
pure vegetable oil to rinse or dilute the area. Using water will increase the discomfort.
Use a carrier oil with babies, children and those with sensitive skin. Care should
be used with babies, children, and the elderly. Their skin is more sensitive and susceptible to irritation, burning, or stinging sensations. Use a carrier oil to protect this sensitive skin against irritation. When applying oils to babies & children, ensure they will not accidentally get the oils in their eyes or mouth (bottoms of the feet and then covered with socks, or along the spine are good locations).

“Warm oils” Some oils, such as cinnamon, thyme, oregano, cassia and clove, can feel very
warm or even hot/burning on the skin and therefore should be diluted with a carrier oil when used topically, even on adults. Peppermint is a “cooling” oil, but is another oil you may want to dilute.

Some essential oils are photosensitive. Photosensitive oils, primarily citrus oils, react to
radiant energy or light such as natural sunlight, sunlamps, or other sources of UV rays. The result is a dark pigmentation or a rash on the skin.

Internal Use. While most essential oils on the market should not be taken internally (and this warning is usually on the label), certified pure oils are labeled as dietary supplements and are safe for internal use, in small quantities. Mild oils may be taken under the tongue or in water, hot oils should be placed in capsules. Many oils may be used in cooking recipes for flavoring and/or therapeutic benefit.

Pregnancy & Nursing. While oils applied topically at ordinary levels should not be harmful to a developing fetus, please use caution with essential oils during pregnancy. Popular oils
generally considered safe to use during pregnancy include. bergamot, ginger, geranium,
lavender, lemon, sandalwood, wild orange and ylang ylang, however, other oils may also be suitable; consult your healthcare provider if you have questions or concerns. Additional oils may be helpful during and after delivery. Internal use of peppermint can reduce milk supply in some mothers, so you may want to avoid it prior to delivery and while nursing.

Critical health conditions. Persons with asthma, epilepsy, high blood pressure, or other
critical health conditions can definitely benefit from essential oils, but may want to consult a healthcare professional.

A little goes a long way. Essential oils are pure concentrates. The higher quality the oil, the more potent it will be and smaller amounts are required. One or two drops is considered a dose. Less oil, more often, is best. Unlike synthetic medications, you do not need to wait 4 hours before using an oil again. Apply the oil; if there is still discomfort, apply more again in a few minutes.

Essential oil and bath water. One common application method is in a bath. When using
undiluted oil in bath water, use a dispersing gel (bath/shower gel can work) to prevent oil
from pooling as a concentrated drop in the water. Also note that oils will evaporate quickly in very hot water.
